Link Engineering Company (LINK), a premier provider of customized testing equipment, and Maul-Theet, a leader in structural dynamics, are excited to announce that, effective February 2023, they have entered into a strategic partnership. Moving forward, LINK will leverage their global presence and begin marketing, sales, and support initiatives for the Maul-Theet product line at all LINK sites.
The LINK Shim Damping Test Stand offers an automated system that enables the collection of reproducible results in a highly efficient and time saving manner. This solution is a time saving and productive way to test the efficiency of shims. It also provides a shim database that creates meta data like manufacturer, material, lot, production temperature, and pressing force.
Understanding the natural frequency and damping properties of brake pads, brake rotors, engine blades, or any other type of component is key when developing products, however, these dynamic behaviors change when a clamping force is applied. Due to this, the Vibration Test Stand (VTS) systems provide a solution depending on the customer’s needs, leading to three test stand configurations:
Understanding the dynamic properties of the brake pad is essential in the development process to ensure quality control in production. LINK’s FDT solution is an upgrade of the Model 1620 Natural Frequency Test Stand (NFT) since it comes with its own test bench and its own SQL central database. The system can be upgraded to have a manual hydraulic clamping system to further evaluate the dynamic properties of the brake pad or other components.
The vMonitor provides a way to measure and record vibrations and shock events caused by or caused on buildings and machinery in a continuous way. This system comes integrated with anti-aliasing filters and enables multi-channel vibration measurements of small amplitudes in the low-frequency range (<3 Hz).
A precise and reproducible excitation of the test structure is indispensable for many test scenarios. To solve this, development of the vImpact automatic modal hammer product family was developed. These ensure bounce-free excitation and reliable measurement of the excitation forces. Setting up the hammer position is quick and easy thanks to the hammer’s updated actuator principle and simple operation. The several models differ in the frequency range, and the maximum excitation force and are therefore ideal for different areas of application.
The vSpeedBox allows users to measure speed without any tacho inputs by simply using a sensor assembly. This approach enables the measurement of speed-dependent waterfalls or speed-dependent measured variables, like those for order analysis.
To ensure constant high-level accuracy, the vSpeedBox comes with three speed ranges that can be adjusted based on the required measuring ranges.
LINK's Model 1620 Compressibility Test Machine provides a complete evaluation of the compressibility of friction materials at ambient and elevated temperatures. We are proud to include an upgrade on our Model 1620 units, focusing on measuring natural frequency and damping properties in accordance with SAE J2598. The integration of the Maul-Theet Natural Frequency Test Stand onto LINK’s Model 1620 provides a complete non-destructive way to evaluate brake pads characteristics and behaviors.
